Flying Fox Activity in Rishikesh


In Flying Fox, the candidates are secured by the harness and are set free from the platform. As the gravity releases them, the wire is rolled down upto a height of about 7 meters from the water surface and then pulled back. The retrieval mechanism ensures happy flying moments from launching point to lowest point at an accelerating speed of 160 Kms per hour. The cool gushing air on faces brings a tingling sensation inside the whole body. The thrilling ride ends at the lowest point with flutter and sighs.One must ensure to meet the pre-requisites for the flying fox adventure.

Kunjapuri Temple: Famous for Sunrise point in Rishikesh

Rajaji National Park is a beautiful reserve to the east of Haridwar. It is famous as an elephant habitat and also harbours the mountain goat, goral. Part of the awe-inspiring Shivalik ranges in Uttarakhand, these forests at the foothills that comprise Rajaji are endowed with Sal trees and bamboo shoots. The park is open from mid-November to mid-June. Winters are the most pleasant time to visit the park i.e. between November and March, when the temperature ranges between 20-25C during the day. In summer, temperatures can be as high as 48C. During winter, making it convenient to visit the park. The park remains closed in the rainy season, when there is an average 750 mm. of rainfall.

Tungnath Shrine Now Open For Public


One of the world's highest temples perched at an altitude of 3680m; Tungnath temple has many myths and legend in its bag. It is believed that this temple was established by Arjuna of Mahabharata after Adi Shankaracharya founded a Shiva Linga at the same site.
Today, this ancient temple bounded by peaks like Nanda Devi, Kedarnath and Neelkanth is considered as the most important of all Panch Kedars temples. The temple complex consists of two mare small temples devoted to Goddess Parvati and Vyas. However, during winters the temple is closed due to snow and idol of Lord Shiva is shifted to Mukunath Village.

Neelkanth Temple: Famous for Lord Shiva


Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is believed to be the most complex Gods of the Hindu pantheon. The establishment of this temple has a legend behind it. According to the mythological stories, Lord Shiva drank the poison that appeared from the 'Sagar Manthan' (churning of ocean). This place is said to have been the same place, where Lord Shiva drank the poison. On drinking the poison, his throat turned blue and from that time onwards, Lord Shiva came to be known as 'Neelkantha' (One having blue throat).

Wildlife Tour in Rajaji National Park


In Rajaji National Park is more than 50 species of mammals including the highly endangered Asian Elephant and Tiger found in the Park. Besides tiger, leopard, Himalayan Black bear, sloth bear, Civet, Marten, Jackal, Hyena etc, it is estimated that there are more than 350 Asian elephants in the park. Goral (Mountain Goat) - a characteristic mammals of the lower Himalayas abound in the precipitous slopes of the Shivalik hills. Three species of deer - Sambhar, Spotted Deer (Cheetal) and Barking Deer (Kakar) and animals like Wild Boar, Neel Gai. Langoor, Black Napped Hare, Jungle cat etc are also found.

Top view of the Beatles Ashram in Rishikesh


The Beatles visited Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram in Rishikesh in 1968. The visit by George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr involved them staying in the now derelict igloo shaped Chaurasi Kutia huts in the ashram. The most important event that took place during the Beatles’ visit to this facility was their rehabilitation from LSD abuse, which in turn inspired them to write a huge number of songs. In 2009, McCartney commented that Transcendental Meditation was a gift the Beatles had received from the Maharishi at a time when they were looking for something to stabilise them.
