Lakshman Jhula is an iron suspension bridge situated in Rishikesh in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It was erected over the Ganges river and is a landmark of Rishikesh. A similar bridge further downstream from Lakshman Jhula is Ram Jhula. It is said that Lakshmana crossed Ganges on jute ropes between the place where this bridge is built. Lakshman Jhula was completed in 1929.Lakshman Jhula is the smaller bridge, but still it teems with foot traffic, scooters and monkeys. Cafes on both sides overlook the river and one of the most scenic spots in town. From here, Rishikesh wends its way along both banks of the river, at the bottom of a narrow valley.
