Lakshman Jhula is an iron suspension bridge situated in Rishikesh in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The area around Lakshman Jhula will make you experience the mystic, sacred and calm feeling. A still view from the Lakshman Jhula will comprise of hundreds of religious people, clad in colourful clothes, lost in performing the religious traditions. Standing on the bridge you can hear the amalgamated sound of ringing bells, people chanting mantras and shlokas and gushing waters of the holy river Ganga.
Visit the local market developed around the Jhula. The market is famous for wooden goods, idols of mainly Hindu Gods and Goddesses, Rudrakshas, religious books, local jewelries, gems and traditional clothes. Shop for souvenirs and knick-knacks to take back home and make sure to dig in some excellent street food while in the market.
