Bharat Mandir in Rishikesh



Bharat Mandir is an ancient temple founded by Adiguru Shankaracharya in the 12th century. It is said to be the oldest temple in Rishikesh devoted to Lord Vishnu and located just near to Triveni Ghat in the heart of the old town Rishikesh. It is said about temple that Sage Raibhya practised penance at this spot. The Inner sanctum of the temple has the idol of Lord Vishnu, carved out of a single Saligram. In the inner canopy above the idol is Shree Yantra installed by Adi Sankraya Charya. In the premises, there is very old tree lookes like a single tree but there are three tree like Banyan, Bel, Pipple Trees these trees are intermingled in such a way that it is impossible to find next as a separate entity.ishikesh is a city in India northern state of Uttarakhand, in the Himalayan foothills beside the Ganges River. Rishikesh is known as The Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas. Rishikesh has been a part of the legendary Kedarkhand. Legends state that Lord Rama with his younger brother did penance here and crossed the river Ganges after killing Ravana, the demon king of Lanka. The Beatles were one of the most popular music bands in 1960 throughout the world. The Beatles first met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in London (1967). Later they also attended seminar of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi at Wales. In February 1968, the Beatles travelled to Rishikesh to attend an advanced Transcendental Meditation training session at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Some people believe that the Beatles were feeling so much stress due to constant media attention & fame. Even their internal relations were also affected. Their tour of Rishikesh gave them new vision to their life. The Maharishi also helped the band in at the time of loss of their manager, Brian Epstein. The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi also inspired the beatles band to maintain good thoughts.In present time Rishikesh became a world capital of Yoga & Meditationand also a hub of White Water River Rafting and Adventure Camping The Beatles were attracted to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Meditation & teachings, wanting to learn more, they kept in contact with Maharishi and made arrangements to spend time with him at his teaching centre located near Rishikesh, in the Valley of the Saints at the foothills of the Himalayas.
Along with their wives, girlfriends, assistants and numerous reporters, the Beatles arrived in India and joined the group of 60 people who were training to be Transcendental Meditation teachers, including musicians Donovan, Mike Love of the Beach Boys, and flautist Paul Horn. While there, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Harrison wrote many songs and Ringo Starr finished writing his first. Eighteen of those songs were recorded for The Beatles ("the White Album"), two songs appeared on the Abbey Road album, and others were used for various solo projects. Kunjapuri Devi Temple in Rishikesh/ Krishna Holidays



Kunjapuri Devi Temple is located on a hillock around 15 km away from Rishikesh. This temple is dedicated to one of the thirteen most important goddesses of Shivalik range. The temple is well-known among the travellers as it gives a beautiful view of the sunrise and the sunset from the greater Himalayan peaks. Snow ranges and peaks of Garhwal Himalayas like Swarga Rohini, Gangotri, Banderpunch and Chaukhamba, can also be seen from this temple.
Kunjapuri Devi temple is considered as one of the 52 Shaktipeeth / Shaktipeetha/ Shaktipeetham of our divine Mother. The temple is situated on its namesake peak at an elevation of 1676 mtrs from above sea level. This shrine is one of the three Siddha Peeths, the other two being Surkanda Devi and Chanddi Devi. Neelkanth Mahadev Temple in Rishikesh.


Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Nilkanth (Lord Shiva). The temple is situated at a height of 1330 meters and is located about 32 km from Rishikesh in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India.The temple is one of the most revered holy shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a prominent Hindu pilgrimage site. It is surrounded by dense forests and is adjacent to the mountain ranges of Nar-Narayan. It is enveloped between the valleys of Manikoot, Brahmakoot and Vishnukoot and is located at the confluence of the rivers Pankaja and Madhumati.According to Hindu mythology, the place where the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple currently stands is the sacred location where Lord Shiva consumed the poison Halahala that originated from the sea when Devas (Gods) and Asuras (Demons) churned the ocean in order to obtain Amrita. This poison that emanated during the Samudramanthan (churning of ocean) made his throat blue in color. Thus, Lord Shiva is also known as Neelkanth, literally meaning The Blue Throated One. Neelkanth Mahadev in the form of Shivalinga is the presiding deity of the temple. The temple complex also has a natural spring where devotees usually take a holy bath before entering the premises of surrounded by dense forests.Maha Shivaratri is the most prominent festival celebrated in the temple and lots of devotees flock to the temple during the festival. The devotees who pay a visit to Neelkanth Mahadev make an offering of Bael leaves, coconut, flowers, milk, honey, fruits and water to the Lord Shiva. The temple observes two fairs that are held annually on the occasions of Maha Shivratri (Feb-Mar) and Shivratri of Shraavana (month of Hindu calendar) (July-Aug) during which the devotees (Kawarias) trek from Haridwar to Neelkanth Mahadev Temple.This place is also loved by tourists for its picturesque beauty.

Vashishta Cave in Rishikesh.



Vashishta (Gufa) Cave is of great sage (Baba, Shadhu, Rishi) Vashistha. Vashishta Gufa, situated on the banks of the Ganga River, is one of the most beautiful places of meditation in Rishikesh- the yoga capital of the world. It is very dark inside but very peaceful. It is most popular place among Indians and foreigners for divine energy. This cave is located 25 kms far from Rishikesh, after one hour drive up river you will find steps down way then you will reach where famous saint vasishtha Guru (Teacher of Lord Rama) meditated on the banks of the Ganges. Vashistha was one of the Saptarishis (Seven Great Sages) in ancient India. Vashistha was manas putra of Lord Brahma & Guru of Lord Ram. This cave is most beautiful and peaceful place for meditation. Many foreigners come here to visit and to do meditation; the environment is full of divine energy and divine sound of mother Ganga. Green magnificent Mountain, pure running river and divine energy make this place more attractive. According to popular beliefs, after the death of his children, Vashishta Muni came here to commit suicide. However, the holy Ganga River failed his attempt. Arundhati, Vashishta's wife, liked the environs and decided to stay here.
In the mid 20th century, Swami Purshottamanand came to this site and maintained it. At present, the Swami Purshottamanand Trust manages this cave. The gufa also houses a small Shiva linga, which is considered sacred. To reach this cave, one has to climb a flight of around 200 steps.

Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh.



Triveni Ghat is a confluence of three holy important rivers - Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati.  It is of belief that those who take a dip in water at Triveni Ghat washes away all the sins and purifies the soul and will have salvation, a relief from all sins carried out; the water at Triveni Ghat has the power to purify them. It is very famous place for a pilgrims and tourist peoples. Every evening the Ganga Aarti is performed on the Triveni Ghat with lot of lamps, chantings of bhajans and beating drums ,bells.The devotees release small oil lamps placed on leaf boats in the water. These lamps floats down the river and provide a beautiful view.  At evening time many peoples visit this place and relaxing their mind with Ganga aarti and feel the nature. It very soothing to sit on the banks of the river and enjoy the cool breeze from the river.  In monsoon the weather of the triveni ghat is amazing, you see the two rainbows in the himalayas and lit bit of rain and you really enjoy the nature.
