Visit the 'Beatles Ashram' in India's Yoga Retreat of Rishikesh


The Beatles visited the ashram of Mahareshi Mahesh Yogi in 1968 to learn meditation. It's said that they wrote more than 40 songs during their stay, including some that were later featured on "The White Album" and "Abbey Road." At the next Beatles' fan club meeting, worshippers can leave Abbey Road alone, and instead join hands and meditate in an Indian ashram like John, Paul, George and Ringo did in 1968.
Authorities in the northern Indian state Uttarakhand have revamped and reopened Chaurasi Kutia (or The Beatles Ashram), a spiritual hermitage inside Rajaji National Park in the popular yoga retreat city Rishikesh.

Yamunotri Dham in Uttarakhand


The holy abode of Goddess Yamuna is situated near the foot of Kalind Parbat (peak) and on a side of Banderpoonch Parbat. Nestled in the intimidating Himalayas, Yamunotri temple is believed to be constructed by the king of Tehri, Naresh Sudarshan Shah in 1839. One of the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage sites, the stunning setting of the temple is enough to fill the hearts of the devotees with wonder. Yamuna River jets down from one side of the temple, which houses Goddess Yamuna in the form of a black marble idol. Ganga Devi too finds her place, in white stone, by the side of Yamuna.

Deorital Trek in Uttarakhand


Deorital Lake is a beautiful lake at an altitude of 2438 m. This lake has captivating surroundings with forests all around. The reflection of the mighty Chaukhamba peak in the lake creates a beautiful effect. The road is motor able up to Sari, 10 kms from Ukhimath and from there one has to trek about 3 kms. The story associated with this scenic place is that when the Pandavas were in exile and were hiding from the Kaurava king Duryodhan, they stopped nearby for a rest. When the mother Kunti felt thirsty, one by one four sons out of five went to fetch water from this lake but died, as they could not answer the question of the Yaksha Devta who resided here. When the eldest son's Yudishtra's turn came, he answered all questions correctly and with the result the dead brothers also came back to life.
