Beauty of the Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand.

Lakshman Jhula: A hanging bridge in Rishikesh.


The popular hanging bridge across the holy river Ganga, Lakshman Jhula is a known landmark in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. This 450 ft long Jhula is built at a height of 70 ft from the river and is about 3 kms away from the main town of Rishikesh. Interestingly this bridge has a history attached to it. As per the Hindu mythology, Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Sri Rama, crossed the holy river Ganga at the same site where the bridge stands today. At that time this bridge was made up of jute. The bridge came to be known as the Lakshman Jhula after this incident. In 1939 the jute bridge was replaced with a new iron bridge that was built along the same path.

Flying Fox Adventure in Rishikesh / By Krishna Holidays


We have fixed a hard wire from one end of the valley to the other. This wire is more than a kilometre long and there is a large apparatus attached to it. You are harnessed to this apparatus which is released to gravity running on the wire from the height of 120 mtrs to achieve the speed of 160 kmph.
Imagine yourself piercing through the air at such high speed. This is undoubtedly one of the most exciting activities offered by us. The apparatus you are harnessed to is then slowly brought back to the starting point. Flying Fox in Rishikesh is usually done by three persons at a time. However, if you desire you can pay extra to do it alone. Successful participants are honoured with "Dare to Jump Certificates".

Stunning view of the Ram Jhula in Rishikesh.


Ram Jhula is located near Muni Ki Reti, approximately 4 miles (6 kilometers) north of Rishikesh. The bridge is mainly used by pedestrians; however, it is also open to motorbikes and is popular with the local monkeys. There are some of the Hindu ashrams and religious centers like "Gita Bhawan", and "Swargashram" located here.It is also a connecting bridge between Swargashram, Gita Bhawan and other temples with Sivananda Ashram. When you walk on them, you can feel every footstep of yours making vibrations on the ground beneath. But the strangest part was to see the vehicles moving along with pedestrians in such a narrow area.

Bharat Mandir, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.


The sacred Bharat Mandir is a famous temple situated in Rishikesh. According to legends, Rishikesh came into existence with this temple only. In about 789 A.D on the auspicious day of Basant Panchmi, Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya reinstalled the presiding deity in the temple. Every year on this day the Shaligram is taken for a holy bath in the sacred Mayakund. A grand procession accrued the idol through the city back to the temple for the symbolic reinstallation. It is also believed that on the day of Akshya Tritiya any believer who 108 parikarmas (rounds) of Lord Shri Hrishikesh Naranyan attains the blessings equivalent to the pilgrimage to Badrinath.

Top view of the Beatles Ashram in Rishikesh.


It's where The Beatles wrote 48 songs and learned how to meditate - and now it's going to be spruced up and turned into tourist attraction. The Indian retreat in the Himalayan foothills where the Fab Four learned transcendental meditation from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has been derelict for years, but now it's going to be completely renovated.
The Beatles visited Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram in Rishikesh in 1968. The visit by George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr involved them staying in the now derelict igloo shaped Chaurasi Kutia huts in the ashram.

Vasishta Cave in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.


The Vasishta Gufa is a hugely popular place for devotees who are interested in the art of meditation. Situated on banks of the holy Ganga River, the Vasishta Gufa (cave) is at a distance of 22 km from Rishikesh. It is believed that many sages, siddhas and saints who lived in the cave added to the holiness, spiritual vibrations and glory of the sacred place. Ram Jhula: A Swinging Bridge in Rishikesh.


The longer of two suspension bridges in Rishikesh offers great views of the river and features lively markets at both sides. Stand at the center of the Ram Jhula and hold on tight to the railing as the whole bridge sways in the wind. Join the crowds as they potter between market stalls and sit back and unwind beside the sacred waters of the Ganges.
Although built later than the Lakshman Jhula, in 1986, this bridge is extremely similar both in its steel construction and design. Positioned a couple of miles downstream of Lakshman, the Ram Jhula connects the district of Sivananda Ashram on the eastern bank with Swarg Ashram to the west.
