Morning View of Lakshman Jhula, Rishikesh


Lakshman Jhula is approximately 5 miles (8 kilometers) north of Rishikesh. The bridge is now used by small motorized vehicles as well as by visitors on foot. It is always open and there is no fee to cross. Many will then make their way to the 13-storey Tera Manzil temple at the far end of the bridge. Climb to the top floor to enjoy spectacular views of the river as it cuts a path through the rugged green mountains.The bridge connects the Tehri and Pauri districts and both of these have extensive markets nearby. Walk to either end and you will find a vast selection of stalls where local artisans sell handcrafted goods.

Gangotri Dham in Uttarakhand


Located at an elevation of 3200 m above the sea level, Gangotri temple is dedicated to the River Goddess Ganga, a symbol of purity. The seat of Goddess Ganga, Gangotri is one of the four destinations of the most revered Chardham Yatra of Uttarakhand. River Ganga originates from Gaumukh in Gangotri Glacier and at the originating point, it is called Bhagirathi River. This glacier is around 19 km from Gangotri.  Located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, the temple was originally constructed by Amar Singh Thapa, the Gurkha general during the first half of the 18th century.

Rajaji Tiger Reserve Park in Rishikesh


Rajaji National Park and Tiger Reserve were closed on 15 June 2017, Thursday evening for the repair and the maintenance of the during the monsoon season. This summer season, the footfall of tourists has crossed 39,000, the figure seeing a  rise   each passing year since 2015. With the monsoon season approaching, Rajaji tiger reserve has been closed for tourists for the next five months. This means that the wild life lovers would not be able to do safaris since the tracks get washed away and the seasonal rivers criss- crossing the park get  into full spate following the onset of the monsoon season hitting the state  from 15 June. The five tourist circuits of Rajaji Tiger Reserve — Chilla, Motichur, Ranipur, Mohand and Asarodhi- have been closed for the tourists during the monsoon break.

Deoria Tal Lake Trek in Uttarakhand


Deoria Tal and Chandrashila Trek with Chopta is a short trek up to the most spellbinding peaks in Garhwal district. The first bit of this trekking journey takes one to Deoria Tal where one can relish the charming beauty of its lake standing at 2438m. It is from the Chaukhamba Peak where one can capture gorgeous views of the Deoria Tal Lake and its mirror-like waters. Deoria Tal is a lake located about 3 km on an uphill trek from the villages of Mastura and Sari, on the Ukhimath-Chopta road in Uttarakhand. Alternately, one can trek to Deoria Tal from Ukhimath, a fairly comfortable 7 km trek. There are options of overnight camping, jungle trek etc.

On December 11 in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga.
